Janie's life will be remembered for her independent spirit, her Christian witness and devotion, her love of all things outdoors and her tremendous capacity with math and "figuring." Even into her ninth decade, she could add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers "in her head" faster than most people could use a calculator to compute the same transactions. When she was given a handheld calculator for balancing her checkbook, Janie mastered its use, but then did the calculations in her head to see if the calculator was right. Finally, she discontinued the use of the calculator as "completely worthless." We will miss her presence here on earth, but will cherish the heritage that she gave us until we join her in eternal rest.
