ACOSTA
Services were October 19 at Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church
for Donasiano Acosta of 706 W. James.  Acosta, 84, died on
October 16 at his home.  Interment was at Twin Oaks Memorial
Park in Artesia.  Acosta was born on May 25, 1915, in 
Ruidosa, Tex., to Nicasillo Acosta and Jesus (Dominguez) Acosta.
He married Martha Urias on June 15, 1935, in Barrancos de
Guadalupe, Mexico.  She preceded him in death on February 4, 1981.
He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.  He is
survived by sons Candelario Acosta of Hobbs, NM, and Rosalia
Acosta, Domingo Acosta, Merejildo Acosta and Jose Acosta, all
of Artesia; daughters Manuela Marquez and Santos Yrigollen, both
of Artesia; brother Matillas Acosta of Hobbs; 28 grandchildren;
60 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  He was
preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

AGUILAR
Services are scheduled for October 18, at Our Lady Of Grace
Catholic Church in Artesia, for Demetrius "Demi" Aguilar of
37 Chimeso Road.  Aguilar, 18, died on October 13 in 
Lubbock, Texas.  Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
Aguilar was born on November 15, 1980, in Artesia to Robert
Aguilar and Elidia (Gabaldon) Aguilar.  He was never married.
He was a member of Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church.  He is
survived by his parents, Robert and Elidia, of the family home;
brothers Rene Aguilar of Albuquerque, NM, and Fabian Aguilar, 
wife Gracie, of Artesia; and grandparents Robert Aguilar SR. and
Esther of Artesia, and Andres Gabaldon of Artesia.

ALLEN
Graveside services are scheduled for November 12, at Woodbine
Cemetery for former resident Elsie Rachel Palmateer Allen of
Weatherford, Texas.  Allen, 93, died on November 4, in 
Weatherford.  She was born on December 12, 1905, in 
Creston, Nebraska.  She and her husband, Henry Crowel Allen,
met in Artesia.  He preceded her in death in 1978.  She was
a member of First Methodist Church in Artesia.  She is survived
by sons William Henry Allen of Weatherford, Jay Palmer Allen
of Glandale, Ariz., and Howard Kim Allen of Vestavia Hills,
Alabama; sister Twyla Belle Stout of Taft, Calif.; six grand-
children; and eight great-grandchildren.

ALMAGER
Services are scheduled for Thursday, September 9, at Our Lady
Of Grace Catholic Church in Artesia, for former Artesia resident
TIM V. ALMAGER of Hobbs, NM.  Almager, 56, died on September 6,
at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs.  A rosary is scheduled
today at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.  He was born on
September 3, 1943, in Las Cruces, NM to Marcelino Almager and
Taniz Villareal.  He married Illa Mae Scott on July 27, 1989,
in Hobbs.  Survivors include his wife Illa Mae Almager of Hobbs;
mother Taniz Villarreal of Artesia; sons Richard Almager and wife
Shelley, Tim Almager, Jr. and wife Irene, all of Roswell, NM, 
and Steve Almager and wife Mikea, of Eunice, NM; daughters Sandra
Matta and husband Oscar, and Silvia Hernandez and husband Henry, 
all of Roswell, NM; stepsons Norman Johnson and wife Linda, of 
Hobbs, Terry Johnson and wife Elaine of Winters, TX, and Chris
Johnson and wife Brandy, of Somerset, KY; stepdaughter Lilla
Mae Cirdler of Somerset, KY; daughter-in-law Trisa Almager of
Denver, CO; brothers Eulogio Almager and wife Martha of 
Albuquerque, NM, Larry Rodriguez and wife Mary, and Fred Cruz and
wife Delfa, all of Artesia; sisters Ruth Venegas and Jane Gomez,
both of Seminole, TX.  He was preceded in death by his father.

ANDERSON
A memorial service is scheduled for John F. "Andy" Anderson, 77,
for January 17 at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.  He died on
January 13 at his home.  Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements.  He was born November 6, 1922, to Clarence Franklin
and Anna Samantha Sarah Ann Oldershaw Anderson in Groton, Mass.,
where he graduated from high school in 1941.  He attended Colby
College in Maine.  He was drafted and served in the Army Air Corps
at Carlsbad Air Base in 1943 where he trained Chinese bombardiers.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death
by his first wife, Chonita Santa Cruz Anderson, in 1954; his second
wife, Barbara Mae Watson Anderson, in 1970; and a sister, Dorothy
Berchett.  Survivors include his wife, Jean Anderson of Carlsbad;
sons, Wesley "Wes" F. Anderson and Steve L. Anderson Sr. of 
Rockport, Texas; stepson, Terrence P. McGonagill of Carlsbad;
daughter, Cindy L. Anderson of Las Vegas; stepdaughters, Clara J.
White and Ella Mae Hodges of Carlsbad; sisters, Della Dunay of
Stafford Springs, Conn., Gertrude P. Shoemaker of Ft. Charlotte, Fla.,
and Flora Foster of New York state; 12 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.

ANTENUCCI	
Services are pending with Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in
Canton, Ohio, for Ora Dugan Antenucci of 709 W. Hermosa.  
Antenucci, 75, died on December 17 at her home.  Interment will
be in Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, Ohio.  She was born on
January 6, 1924, in Witch Hazel, Ohio, to Andrew Stanton Dugan
and Myrtle E. (Millhorn) Dugan.  She married Robert Anthony
Antenucci on February 26, 1942, in Canton.  He preceded her in
death on November 22, 1997.  She was a Catholic.  She is survived
by her son, Robert "Bob" Antenucci, wife Linda, of Laguna Niguel,
Calif.; daughters Roberta "Angie" Klatt, husband, Hand, of
Salinas, Calif., and Anita Kuperus and Martha "Martie" Cramer,
both of Artesia; sisters Mildred P. Kelley and Clara Schuller, 
both of Martin's Ferry, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-
grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by brothers Frank

ANTHONY
No public services will be held for Louise Wills Anthony, 85,
of Corpus Christi, Texas.  She died December 26, 1999.  She was
preceded in death by her husband, Samuel C. Anthony, Jr. on
January 26, 1996.  The couple had been married for 59 years 
when he died.  They married and raised their family in the 
coalfields of West Virginia.  Survivors include their children,
Carol Wilson of Corpus Christi, Lynn Gurin of Northboro, Mass.,
and Samuel C. Anthony III of Carlsbad; five grandchildren; and
two great-grandsons.

ARMIJO
Funeral services are scheduled for Reyes R. Armijo, 98, on
January 19 at San Jose Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at
Carlsbad Cemetery.  She died January 15 at Lakeview Christian
Home of the Southwest.  Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.  She was born January 6, 1902, to Miguel
Rodriguez and Macedonia Cardenas in Fort Davis, Texas, where she
grew up.  She moved to Carlsbad in her early adult years.  She was
a member of San Jose Catholic Church.  She was preceded in death by
her husband, Federico "Fred" Armijo in 1964; a son, Albian Armijo
in 1974; eight brothers; and six sisters.  She is survived by five
daughters, Corine Acosta, Cruz Biscaino, Chris Sillas and Carol
Garcia, all of Carlsbad, and Cindy Carrasco of Roswell, NM; a step-son,
Nieves Armijo of El Paso, Texas; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grand-
children, 26 great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great

ARNOLD
Services are scheduled for February 9 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in
Roswell, NM, for former Artesia resident Kenneth Ray Arnold of
Santa Fe, NM.  Arnold, 58, died February 5 at Lovelace Clinic in
Albuquerque.  Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.
Military honors will be provided by the Roswell Veterans Honor
Guard.  He was born December 18, 1941, in Chickasha, Okla., to
Daniel C. and Edna Corrine Chapman Arnold.  Both parents preceded
him in death.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia
Darline Arnold, and a brother, Andrew Clyde Arnold.  He served in
the US Navy from 1960 to 1964.  Survivors include sons Kenneth Ray
Arnold II of Michigan and John Victor Arnold of Toledo, Ohio;
brothers James Arnold of Aurora Grand, Calif., and David Arnold of
Roswell; sisters Betty Bradley of Roswell, Peggy Frenette of 
Santa Fe, Sue Raison of San Antonio, Texas and Sandra Bayes of
Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anthony "Gordo" Arredondo was born August 31, 1981, in Carlsbad to
Alex Garcia and Betty Arredondo Garcia.  He was raised in Carlsbad.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Lou
Arredondo.  Survivors include his father, Alex Garcia of 
Albuquerque, NM; mother, Betty Justice of Carlsbad; brothers, 
Jackie Justice and Bernard Martinez of Carlsbad and Ernesto Montoya
of Roswell, NM; sisters, Angela Justice of Odessa, Texas, Veronica
Justice of Albuquerque and Ida Marie Romero of Carlsbad; paternal
grandfather, Frank Arredondo Sr. of Carlsbad; and maternal grand-

Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.  Terpening & Son Mortuary is in charge
of arrangements.  She was born April 26, 1930, in Chickasha, Okla.,
to Floyd M. and Christine Harper Martin.  She married Jesse Thomas
Austin on September 3, 1948, in Roswell, NM.  They moved to Artesia
from Oklahoma in 1958 and to Las Cruces four months ago.  She was
preceded in death by her parents, her oldest child, Connie O. Austin,
in 1968, and brother, Calvin Martin.  survivors include her husband,
Jesse T. Austin of the Veterans Center, Truth or Consequences, NM;
stepmother, Lou Martin of Ft. Worth, TX; daughters, Paula J. Phillips
of Albuquerque, NM, Naomi R. Austin of Atlanta and Debbie LeClear
of Lubbock; a son, Thomas W. Austin of Las Cruces; sisters, Lois R.
Green of Houston, TX, Helen R. Ripple of Springtown, TX, and Mary
