Fernandez, 79, died on November 9 at Artesia General Hospital. Interment will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. He was born on November 20, 1919, in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Ezequiel Flores and Nicolasa (Fernandez) Flores. He married Josephine Rascon on March 27, 1940, in Carlsbad, NM. She preceded him in death in September 1983. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace. He is survived by sons Tony Fernandez Jr., Robert Fernandez, Pete Fernandez and Jerry Fernandez, all of Artesia, and Johnny Fernandez of El Paso, Tex.; daughters Mary Salmon, Terry Balencia, Amelia Rodriguez and Virginia Vargas, all of Artesia, Mary Lou Hernandez of Lubbock, Tex., and Rosemary Florez of El Paso, Tex.; sisters Lilia Jiminez of California, Avelina Papillon of Albuquerque, NM and Dora Cota of Carlsbad; 45 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law. Fleming, 77, died on October 21, at Artesia General Hospital. Cremation will be under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. She was born on February 7, 1922 in Limestone County, Tex., to Hanford Morris and Lilla Mae (Burleson) Morris. She married J.P. Fleming on May 13, 1941, in Carlsbad, NM. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1995. She is survived by a son, Bud Fleming, of Estancia; daughter Ginger Hamaker of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Forister, 67, died on October 8 at Kenneland Nursing Home in Weatherford. She was born on January 27, 1932, in Wellington, Tex., to Allen Preston Birdwell and Mary Lois (Teague) Birdwell. She married Bennie Forister on June 17, 1948, in Carlsbad, NM. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1967. She was a Baptist, a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Girl Scouts. She is survived by her mother, Mary Lois Birdwell of Oregon; son, Bennie Forister, JR. of San Mateo, Calif.; daughters Phyllis Ann Farthing of Midland, Tex., and Linda Jo Gomillion of Weatherford, Tex.; brother Jerry Donald Birdwell of Fort Sumner; sister Mary Beth Hicks of Graham, Tex.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. She died January 15 at Lakeview Christian Home, Northgate Unit, following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born September 25, 1929, to Lucian and Johnnie V. Fletcher in Loving, NM, where she grew up. She graduated from Carlsbad High School. She married Frank Albert Forni Sr., the same year she graduated, 1949. She and Frank made their home at the family home of Fred Forni on what was known originally as the Poteet Farm, near Otis, NM. Frank died on August 8, 1960. She married Leon J. Frerich in July of 1961. He died on July 18, 1987. She was a long-time member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by both her husbands; three sons, Frederick Thomas Forni, Frank Albert Forni Sr. and Johnny Ray Forni; and her mother, Johnnie V. Fletcher. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Bill and Donna Estes of Albuquerque, NM, and Beth and Mike Ackman of Carlsbad; her father, Lucian Thomas Fletcher of Artesia; four brothers, Loy and B.L. (Cuck) both of Artesia, Bob of Las Vegas and Ray of Farmington, NM; 10 grand- children; and four great-grandchildren. Sensabaugh Frink. He married Glenda Pugh on December 28, 1971, in Mansfield, TX. He was a member of the Alvarado VFW Post 9299, Cleburne Elks Lodge No. 811, and the Johnson County Veterans Council. He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was a retired rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service. Fugier, 23, died on October 7 in Las Cruces, NM. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemtery. Fugier was born on February 25, 1976, in Artesia to Robert Elwood Fugier and Selma Kay (Wallace) Fugier. He was never married. Fugier was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Selma K. and Rickey Dunahoo of the home; brother Russell Greer, wife Andrea, of Tyler, Tex.; sister Jeanna Guerrero, husband Mike, of Artesia; two nieces and two nephews.
