Jackson, 68, died on September 26 at her residence. No services are scheduled. She was born on February 11, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Harry L. and Regie C. Schultz. She married H. Clair Jackson on June 10, 1950. She lived in Ohio until 1976, the moved to Florida, then to Artesia. Survivors include her husband; daughters Linda E. Jackson of Albuquerque, NM and Debbie J. Jackson of Artesia; sons E. Harley Jackson and Kevin D. Jackson, both of Conneautville, Pa; four brothers; three sisters; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harry L. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Artesia. Jackson served in the US Army. Johns was born on November 11, 1917, in Direct, Texas, the daughter of George Alfred Bynum and Lona Mae (Jackson) Bynum. She married A.W. Johns in Hollis, Oklahoma on December 30, 1935. She came to Artesia in 1957 from Monahans, Texas. Johnson was born on October 30, 1943 in Artesia to Herman Lott Johnson and Mabel Allie (Troublefield) Johnson. He was married to Mary Alice Melton on June 9, 1973, in Artesia. He was a member of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church. Johnson served in the US Army in Vietnam. Johnson, 100, died December 31. She was born in Roswell on April 6, 1899. She grew up in Hope, NM, and Loving, NM, before settling in Carlsbad. She taught school in Eddy County for 42 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Delta Kappa Gamma and the National Educators Association. He was born on January 20, 1905, near Blackwell, to George Jason and Dora Elizabeth Smith Johnston. He married Susie Antrim Barnett on December 24, 1930, in Dodge City, Kansas. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was born on June 8, 1919, in Doole, Tex., to James Francis Joy and Sara Elizabeth (Williams) Joy. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Vogel on February 17, 1943, in Artesia. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a member of 8th & Grand Church of Christ in Artesia. She was born on June 15, 1929, in Carlsbad to Francisco Terrazas and Juanita Munoz Terrazas. She grew up and attended school here. She married Benito M. Juarez Sr. on October 3, 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984. Jurva. Jurva, 83, died January 3 at Columbia Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, Calif. after a short illness. Betty Young Jurva was born November 11, 1916, in Phenix, Ariz., to Myra Hooper and Henry Herbert Hotchkiss. She was raised in the Valley of the Sun and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1934. In 1938, she earned her bachelor of arts degree from Arizona State University. Shortly thereafter she moved to Morenci, Ariz. to teach elementary school. There she met and married Urho "Jerry" A. Jurva. The moved to eastern Oregon. WWII drew the couple to Southern California where he found work in the defense industry. In 1997, they moved to Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad. She was preceded in death by an older sister, Myra Hotchkiss, and her husband, Jerry, in May 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Anne M. Agah of San Jose, Calif.; son, Charles H.
