Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery Babyland. She died February 15 at Lubbock Methodist Hospital. West Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. She was born December 3, 1996, to Ruben Dominguez and Armendina De Los Santos Najera in Carlsbad. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Pedro Franco Najera in 1980. Survivors include her parents; brother, Ruben Dominguez Najera II of Carlsbad; sisters, Lanessa Renee Santos Najera and Lachelle Monique Santos Najera of Carlsbad; and grandparents, Hugo and Consuelo De Los Santos and Bertha Dominguez Najera of Carlsbad. Neal, 92, on January 24 at First United Methodist Church. Cremation has taken place. Neal died January 22 at Landsun Health Service Center. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born December 30, 1907, in Crowell, Texas to Wallace and Allie Poag Cogdell. She was a teacher and librarian in Texas and New Mexico. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Allen Cogdell, Ralph Cogdell, Weldon Cogdell and John Cogdell, and two sisters, Nancy Cogdell and Bonnie Brothers. Nelson, 79, died November 5 at her home. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Nelson was born February 20, 1920, in Mountainair, NM to Willian Elkin Taylor and Effie Wade (Startz) Taylor. She married John August Nelson in Roswell on June 1, 1957. She moved from Mountainair to the Cottonwood area in 1926. Survivors include her husband, John Nelson, of the home; son Jay Alexander Nelson of Tatum; daughter Jan Annette Sargent of Gilbert, Ariz.; and four granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Ricky Allen Nelson and Jeff August Nelson; six sisters; and three brothers. ******************************************************************* The following excerpts were taken from Page 6A - The Carlsbad (NM) Current Argus - January 12, 2000 NETHERLIN Funeral services are scheduled for Raymond Netherlin, 87, of Artesia, on January 14, at First Christian Church in Artesia. Netherlin died January 9 in McAllen, Texas. Raymond Netherlin was born April 18, 1912, in Tularosa, NM to Albert and Mary Cole Netherlin. He moved to the Artesia area in 1928 and graduated from Artesia High School in 1931. He was a WWII veteran serving in Africa, Italy and France. He married Frances Emmons on February 17, 1946. He was a rancher. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alton Netherlin of Ajo, Ariz., Loyd Netherlin of Phoenix, Ariz., and a sister, Opal Lee of Lakewood, NM. Survivors include his wife, Frances, of the home; son, Bill, of Artesia; sister, Jean Fallin of McAllen, Texas; and one grandson. ******************************************************************* The following excerpts were taken from page 10 - The Artesia (NM) Daily Press - December 3, 1999 NORRIS Services are scheduled for December 4, at Bethel Baptist Church in Knowles for Ruby Lenora Norris of Knowles, NM. Knowles, 89, died on December 2 at her residence following an extended illness. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Artesia. She was born on May 14, 1913, in High Rolls, NM to W.H. and Betty Waldrip. She was married to Wayne Norris. He preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, R.W. Norris and his wife Patsy of Knowles, W. Morgan Norris and his wife Sally of Blackwell, Okla., John F. Norris and his wife Jeannie of Taos; sisters, Lucille Ray and Bessy Leaf, both of Artesia; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. *******************************************************************
