RAMIREZ
Services are scheduled Friday, September 17, at Our Lady of
Grace Catholic Church in Artesia, for CARMEN M. RAMIREZ of
302 N. 4th Street.  RAMIREZ, 73, died on September 14 in 
Albuquerque, NM.  Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery.  A 
rosary is scheduled for Thursday, September 16, at the church.
Visitation will begin Thursday morning at Terpening and Sons
Mortuary.  He was born February 26, 1926, in Redford, TX, the
son of Domingo Ramirez and Geronima (Moreno) Ramirez.  He
married Josephina Carrasco on November 22, 1947 in Artesia.  She
preceded him in death January 28, 1995.  Survivors include sons
Ruben and wife Olivia of Kermit, TX, Adolpho and wife Crystal of
Batesville, AK, Ricardo and Luis, wife Elizabeth, all of 
Clovis, NM; daughters Josie Reyes, husband Daniel, and Mary
Rodriguez, husband Larry, all of Artesia; brothers Joe of Artesia
and Daniel of Roswell; sisters Paula Dominguez of Artesia, 
Manuela Verdoza, Gloria Ramirez, Nancy Barron and Delia Osarnio,
all of Phoenix, AZ, and Belia Ramirez of Idaho.  He was preceded
in death by daughters Sally Onsurez and Alicia Morales; his 
parents; brothers Eulogio and Victor; and sisters Irene Delgado

REYNOLDS
Services are January 15 at Terpening & Son Chapel for former
Artesia resident Emma Joree Reynolds of Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Reynolds, 85, died on January 12 at Tuttle.  Interment will be
at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia.  She was born on
January 7, 1915, in Little Rock, Miss., to Jodie Smith and
Ava (Wansley) Smith.  She married Charles Henry Reynolds on
April 8, 1933, in Newton, Miss.  He preceded her in death on
April 24, 1988.  They came to Artesia in 1937 from Mississippi,
then moved to the Tuttle area in 1992.  She was a member of
First Baptist Church in Artesia.  She is survived by a daughter,
Charlotte Bisbee, husband Jerry, of Bridge Creek, Okla.; sisters
Evelyn Jenkins and Roberta Williams both of Little Rock; sisters-
in-law Hazel Smith of Little Rock and Rose Lowery, husband Alton,
of Silver City; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and
numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her
parents; brother Raymond Smith; and sister Maurine Chaney.

RHOADS
A memorial service will be held on January 3, for Eleanor Rhoads.
It will be held at Lakeview Christian Home Chapel.  Rhoads, 87,
died December 31, at her home.  Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.  She was born January 13, 1912, in 
Springfield, Ill., to Walter and Ada Rhoads.  She later lived in
Taylorville, Ill., where she graduated from high school. She 
attended St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas,
where she attained her R.N. degree in 1933.  She moved to Carlsbad
in 1934 and became an officer in the US ARMY Medical Corps from
1943 to 1946.  She served during WWII in New Orleans and in the
Philippines.  Survivors include five nieces; Mary Canavan of Las
Cruces, NM, Lynda Howland of Windsor, Calif., Connie Corbin of
Lampe, Mo., Carol Lauer of St. Louis, Mo., and Ann Stock of 
Blue Springs, Mo.; nephews, Carl Rhoads of Thousand Oaks, Calif.,
Bob Rhoads of Ventura, Calif., Mike Rhoads of Orchard Park, NY,
and G.W. Rhoads of Golden, Mo.; great-niece, Allie Canavan of
Las Curces, NM; great-nephew, Ian Canavan of Las Cruces, NM;
sister-in-law, Florence Rhoads of Ventura, Calif.; and numerous

RIERSON
Services were Tuesday, September 7, at Steed-Todd Chapel in
Clovis, NM for MARIE RIERSON of Clovis.  Burial was at Lawn
Haven Memorial Gardens.  RIERSON, 101, died on September 4
at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.  She was born
on September 2, 1898, in Mills County, TX, to R.B. and
Mary Knowles.  She was preceded in death by her husband, 
Buck Rierson, and sons Winston McDonald and Raymond McDonald.
She is survived by son Clayton McDonald, wife Ramona, of Van
Horn, TX; daughters Juanita Crouch and her husband Bob, of 
Clovis, and Dorothy Izard and her husband Carter, of Artesia.

ROBINSON
Graveside services for Julia L. "Judy" Robinson, 63, will be on
January 28 at Carlsbad Cemetery.  She died January 26 at 
Carlsbad Medical Center.  Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in 
charge of arrangements.  She was born June 24, 1936, in
Huntington, W.V., to Tanner and Bernice L. Faulkner Burdett.  She
spent most of her life in West Virginia in the Huntington area
where she attended business school.  She moved to Carlsbad in 
1982.  She married Paul Robinson on September 29, 1988, in
Carlsbad.  Survivors include her husband, Paul Robinson of 
Carlsbad; daughters, Belinda Mitchell and Donnetta Campos of
Carlsbad, Cerri Cooper of Huntington, W.V., Carletta Kirkes of
Abilene, TX, and Trina Lee of Glendale, Ariz.; three sisters;

ROCHA	
Services are scheduled for Sunday, September 12, at Terpening
and Son Chapel for AMANCIO M. ROCHA of 549 N. 13th Street.
ROCHA, 83, died on September 9, at his home.  Interment will
be in Hilmar District Cemetery in Hilmar, CA.  Memorial
services only, are scheduled here.  ROCHA was born on 
August 26, 1916, in Azores, Portugal, to Amancio Rocha and
Francisca (Machado) Rocha.  He was married to Rosa Avila on
April 27, 1949, in Azores.  He was a member of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Turlock.  Survivors include; his wife, Rosa
Rocha of Turlock; daughters Maria R. Borges of Artesia; sister
Rosa Mancebo of Azores.

RODRIGUEZ
Funeral services are scheduled November 10 at Our Lady of Grace
Catholic Church in Artesia, for Juan Enrique Rodriguez of
276 N. 13th Street #78.  Rodriguez, 20, died November 6 at
Artesia General Hospital.  Interment will follow at Woodbine
Cemetery.  He was born December 8, 1978, in Roswell, NM, the
son of Mercedes C. Rodriguez and Lupe M. (Moreno) Rodriguez.
He was never married.  He was a member of Our Lady of Grace and
a student.  Survivors include his mother and step-father Lupe
and Manuel Montoya of Artesia; father Mercedes C. Rodriguez
of Picacho, NM; brothers Mercedes Rodriguez Jr. and Aaron
Montoya, both of Artesia; sisters Adela Rodriguez and Angie
Rodriguez, both of Artesia; and grandparents Hector and Eloisa
Perez of Artesia.  He was preceded in death by grandfather

RODRIQUEZ
A memorial service was January 28 in Riverside for former
Lakewood resident Jose "Joe" Rodriquez of San Bernardino, Calif.
Rodriquez, 75, died on January 24 after a lengthy illness.  He
was a veteran who served in WWII.  He is survived by his wife, 
Rufina Gonzales Rodriquez of the home; children Frances, Joe Jr.,
Kathy and Victoria, all of California; sisters Mrs. Juan Chavez
and Mrs. Nick Ridriquez, both of Artesia; and several grand-
children.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Christobal
Rodriquez of Lakewood; and brothers Frank Rodriquez and
Luis Rodriquez, who was killed in the Bataan Death March.

Services are pending at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, Tex..
for Madeline M. Ruddick of Hobbs, NM.  Ruddick, 90, died on
November 16 at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs.  She was
born on March 3, 1909, in Mill Creek, Okla.  She is survived by
a son, Randall Ruddick of Artesia; and a daughter, Marilyn Cooper
of Houston, Texas.

RUSSELL
Graveside services will be February 19 at Carlsbad Cemetery, for
Andrew Howell Russell, 72.  Mason rites will be performed by the
members of Eddy Lodge No. 21 AF & AM.  He died February 16 at
William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX.  West Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.  He was born September 8, 1927,
in Ashdown, Ark., in Little River County to Jennings and Irene
Hunt Russell.  He lived in Carlsbad for a while.  He moved to
El Paso in 1961.  Survivors include his wife, Billie C. Russell,
of the family home; daughters, Rena Joyner and Tara Ryan; and
five grandchildren.
