The following excerpts were taken from page 8 - The Artesia (NM) Daily Press - November 2, 1999 VALENZUELA, PAULINA Services are scheduled for November 3, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Artesia, for Paulina E. Valenzuela of 608 N. 14th street. Valenzuela, 76, died October 31 at her home. Burial will be at San Marcos Cemetery in Artesia. She was born June 22, 1923, in Redford, Tex., to Jorge Valenzuela and Josefa Estrada Valenzuela. She married Blas Valenzuela on December 22, 1942 in Mulato, Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1964. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include sons, Ruben Valenzuela, Benito Valenzuela and Amador Valenzuela, all of Artesia; daughter, Blanca Catano of Redford; brothers, Alejo Valenzuela of Artesia and Sotero Valenzuela of Morton, Texas; sister, Alejandra Reyes of Odessa, Tex.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Pilar Valenzuela, a brother and a sister. Valenzuela of 608 N. 14th. Valenzuela, 55, died on December 14 at his home. Interment will be at San Marcos Cemetery in Artesia. He was born on July 27, 1944, in Mulato, Ojinaga, Mexico, to Blas Valenzuela and Paulina (Estrada) Valenzuela. He was never married. He was a Catholic. He is survived by brothers Benito Valenzuela and Amador Valenzuela both of Artesia; and sister Blanca Catano of Redford, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Pilar Valenzuela. VanCuren, 55, died February 12 at the Northwest Medical Center of Springdale. Interment was to follow at Bluff Cemetery. He was born June 10, 1944, at Flushing, Ohio, to James Ferman and Marjorie Triplett VanCuren. He married Judy Kathryn Phipps on March 14, 1963. Survivors include his wife of the home; sons James VanCuren, wife Janie, and John VanCuren, wife Debbie, all of Springdale; adopted son Shane Griffin of Springdale; daughters Kellie Alyacoub, husband Ahmad, and Jamie Trammell, husband Tony, all of Springdale; brothers Clifford VanCuren and Rusty VanCuren, both of Artesia; sisters Bonnie VanCuren of Artesia, Rosie Atkins of Phoenix, Sharon Bettencourt of Carlsbad and Elizabeth Capito of Cama, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. ********************************************************************* The following excerpts were taken from page 8 of The Artesia (NM) Daily Press - September 8, 1999 VAUGHN Services were held Monday, September 6, at Grants Mortuary Chapel for WILLIAM D. VAUGHN of Prewitt, NM. Vaughn, 54, died on September 1 at his home. He was born on June 16, 1945, in Wewoka, OK, to William Clifford Vaughn and Dorothy Wallace Vaughn. Among his survivors are a son, Rowdy Vaughn, of Long Beach, CA who is a former Artesia resident and graduate. *********************************************************************
