GALATIAN, RICHARD I.
Funeral services for Richard I. Galatian, 90, of Albany, Texas,
and formerly of Artesia, NM, wil be held at Friendship Baptist
Church in Albany, today. A graveside service will be held
January 14 at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia. He died January 11
at Bluebonnet Nursing Home. Richard Ivan Galatian was born
May 2, 1909, in Woodbine, Texas, the sixth and youngest child
of Robert and Eva Howard Galatian. He married Margie Lindesmith
on November 19, 1928. She preceded him in death in December 1955.
He then married Addie Wallace Cogburn in 1957. His second wife,
Addie, also preceded him in death. Survivors include a son,
Richard Galatian of Houston; daughters, Neva Chase of Artesia and
Treva Patton of Portales, NM; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grand-
children; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

GANT, MARGARET DOSS
Services for Margaret Doss Gant, 80, will be today at First United
Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. She died
March 18 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements. She was born April 21, 1919, to Victor L.
Minter and Helen Damon Minter in Carlsbad. Her father moved here as an
employee of the Bureau of Reclamation in the early 1900's. She graduated
from Carlsbad High in 1936. She married Walter R. "Potsy" Doss in Carlsbad
on December 5, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1982.
She married Joe Gant II on December 28, 1985. He preceded her in death
on July 18, 1994. She was a member of PEO. She is survived by a son,
Dick Doss and wife, Marsha, of Carlsbad; a daughter, Kay Doss of Carlsbad;
a step-son, Joseph Erwin Gant III of Carlsbad; a step-daughter, Mary Gant
of Bethesda, MD; a sister, Virginia May of Albuquerque, NM; and a grand-
daughter, Kelly Doss of Lubbock, TX. (Photo shown)

A funeral mass for Alex S. Garcia, 44, of Albuquerque, NM, will be
March 31, at San Jose Catholic Church in Carlsbad. Interment will
follow at Loving Cemetery, in Loving, NM. He died March 25, in Albuquerque.
West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born
September 18, 1956, in Loving to Andres and Manuela Salmon Garcia. He
graduated from Carlsbad High School. In 1993, he moved to Albuquerque.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Jose Garcia, and his
son, Anthony Arredondo. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn McEachren
of Albuquerque; son, D.J. McEachren of Albuquerque; daughters, Florencia
Garcia, Sierra Garcia, Cecilia Castillo and Shay Arrey of Albuquerque;
mother, Manuela S. Garcia of Carlsbad; brothers, Juan Garcia, Eugenio
Garcia, Javier Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, Oscar Garcia and David Garcia

GEARY, RUTH A.
Funeral services for Ruth A. Geary, 81, will be January 8 at
St. Edwards Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the service
with interment of cremated remains at a later date at Carlsbad
Cemetery. Geary died January 4 at Lakeview Christian Home of
the Southwest Inc., Northgate Unit. Denton-Funchess Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements. Ruth Alice Geary was born
July 1, 1918, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Albert G. and Erna L.
Kuessel Meyers. She was raised in the Milwaukee area, graduating
from Washington High School in Milwaukee. She married Joseph R.
Geary on Apri 27, 1946. They had their children in Milwaukee and
in 1964 moved to Fargo, ND. In 1983, they moved to Carlsbad.
She was a member of the Lake Carlsbad Ladies Golf Association
and St. Edward's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband,
Joseph R. Geary of Carlsbad; daughters, Kathleen Elmore of
Atlanta Georgia and Susan Wilson of Houston, Texas; four grand-

GEE, RAYMOND JR.
There will be no local services for Raymond Gee Jr., 61, of Carlsbad.
He died August 19, at his home. Cremation has taken place. Denton-

September 18, 1938, to Raymond Bevely Gee Sr. and Lillian Margaret
Gann Gee in Las Cruces, NM. He grew up there and graduated from
Las Cruces High in 1955. He moved to Carlsbad from Las Cruces, about
a year and a half ago. Survivors include a son, Raymond Gee III of
Carlsbad; daughter, Lisa Sanchez of Las Cruces; and three grand-

GIBBS, ERNEST N.
Services are pending for Ernest N. Gibbs, 94, of Carlsbad. A
funeral is planned to be held at the Church Street Church of the
Nazarene but a date has not been set. Mr. Gibbs died January 10
at the Life Care Center in Farmington, NM. Cope Memorial Chapel
in Farmington is in charge of arrangements. Ernest N. Gibbs was
born September 23, 1905, in Gordon, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. N.S.
Gibbs. He moved to Pittsburg County, Okla., in 1917 with his
family. He married Mildred Goff in Wewoka, Okla., on August 4, 1927.
He moved to Carlsbad in 1940. Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death
by an infant daughter. He is survived by his wife of the home.

GIDEON, DELBERT D.
No services are scheduled for Delbert D. Gideon, who died February 20.
He was 92 years old. He was born December 2, 1907, in Ozarks, Mo.,
to Velva and Jefferson Ross Gideon. He was the eldest of four
children, who all preceded him in death. He married Harvey Nell
Hibler in Hot Springs, NM, in April 1946. He was a 54 year resident
of Truth or Consequences, NM, was a small arms specialist in
WWII, during which time he served his country overseas. He was a
member of American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife, of
the home; son Delbert Hampton Gideon, wife Glenda; grandson Devon
Ross Gideon; and granddaughter Courtney Anne Gideon, all of Artesia.
Gideon donated his body to the New Mexico School of Medicine for
medical research.

A funeral for Rafaela Florez Gomez, 96, will be March 30 at San Jose

of arrangements. She was born October 24, 1903, in Malaga, NM, to
Perfecto and Demetria Navarette Florez. She grew up in Malaga. In
1918, she married Juan Gomez. She was preceded in death by three
brothers, two sisters, a son, four daughters and her husband, in 1992.
Survivors include sons, Joe Gomez and Juan Gomez Jr. of Carlsbad;
daughters, Irene Hernandez, Margarita Franco, Belma Martinez, Elva
Gomez and Nancy Gomez of Carlsbad, Maria Brerrospe of Marsins, Idaho,
and Lola Ortega of Avenal, CA; 53 grandchildren; and numerous great-

Memorial Park. She was a member of the Union Pentecostal Church of

Gonzalez November 4, 1974, in Artesia. She was a graduate of
Goddard High School in Roswell, NM. Survivors include her husband
of the home; daughters Vanessa Gonzalez and Deanna Gonzalez, both of
Hobbs; sisters Susana Molina of Artesia and Socorro C. Cruz of Hobbs;
brother Ramon Cruz Jr. of Hobbs; half-brother Ramon Cruz Jr. of
El Paso, TX; grandmother Susana Chavez of Artesia; 23 nieces and
nephews; and 19 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents and grandfather.

GOODSON, JIM ALLEN
Jim Allen Goodson, 44, died December 25, 1999, at University
Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. He was born June 30, 1955, in
Albuquerque. He is survived by his daughters, Raylene Wall of
Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and Tana Statham of Sperry, Okla.;
mother, Helen Goodson of Belen, NM; grandmother, Dora Goodson of
Belen; brothers, Don Goodson of Norman, Okla., and Ken Goodson of
Belen; three grandchildren, Tyler and Nicole Statham and Naomi
Wall; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and
a memorial service will be at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian
Church in Albuquerque on January 3. Arrangements are by Direct
Funeral Services of Albuquerque.

GORBY, GLEN SHERIDAN
Graveside services will be February 9 at Carlsbad Cemetery for
Glen Sheridan Gorby, 69. The Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will
perform services. Mr. Gorby has been cremated. He died
February 6 at his home. West Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements. He was born September 27, 1930, to Mason Edward
and Laura Jo Matthews Gorby in Jacksonville, Texas. He was raised
there before moving to Brownfield, TX, where he graduated from
high school. He joined the Marine Corps in 1951, he received the
Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal before his
honorable discharge in 1954. He married his high school sweet-
heart, Tommie M. Yates, in 1953, in Lovington. After his dis-
charge, he returned to Brownfield, later moving to Hobbs, NM,
where he joined the Police Department. He moved to Carlsbad in
1971. He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Sheridan
Alan Gorby and Eddy Mack Gorby, both of Carlsbad; two brothers,
Mason Gorby of Spokane, Wash., and Akron Gorby of Odessa, TX;
a sister, Lydia Krupicka of Odessa, TX; and four grandchildren.

He was born October 22, 1928, in Redford, TX, to Jose Valenzuela
Grado Sr. and Patricia Rodriguez (Bejarano) Grado. He married
Gloria Armendariz on March 6, 1953, in Mulat, Chihuahua, Mexico.
He moved to Artesia from Redford in 1955. Survivors include his
wife, Gloria, of the family home; sons Armin A. Grado Jr. of
Ruidoso, NM, Jaime A. Grado of Hagerman, and Mario A. Grado of
Artesia; daughters Elida G. Villalobos and Marissa G. Rodriguez,
both of Artesia, Dora G. Ruiz, Margarita G. Rincon, Ninfa G. Rincon,
Noelia G. Medrano, Gloria G. Franco and Jane G. Peralta, all of
Hagerman; brothers, Manuel B. Grado of Lake Arthur, Marcos B. Grado
of Lubbock, TX, Jesus B. Grado of Morton, TX, Frank B. Grado of

GRANADO, DOMINGO S.
A funeral mass for Domingo S. Granado, 78, will be May 12 at Our Lady
of Grace Catholic Church in Loving, NM. Interment will follow at the
Loving Cemetery. He died May 8 at his home. West Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements. He was bron April 16, 1922, in Terlingua, TX,
to Gil and Lonjina Salmon Granado. He was raised in Texas and met his
bride there. He married Fidela Valanzuela on September 13, 1942, in
Alpine, TX. He enlisted in the Navy on December 6, 1944, and was
honorably discharged as a Seaman Second Class on March 14, 1946. After
his discharge he and his family moved to Loving. He was a member of
Our Lady of Grace. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Belia;
brothers, Balbino, Mauro and Elojio Granado; and sisters, Santiaga Lopez,
Antonio Vera, Julia Huerta, Maria Cadena, Manuela Granado and Rosa Garcia.
Survivors include his wife, of the family home; sons, Ernest V. Granado, Sr,
Adan V. Granado Sr., and Oscar V. Granado Sr. of Loving; daughter, Marie
Corella of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Genovebo Granado of Imperial, TX;

He was born to Henry T. and Flora Florez Granger in Fort Davis, TX.
The family moved to Malaga, NM when he was six. He married Ermina
Lopez in 1941 in Carlsbad. He was a member of San Jose Catholic
Church. He was preceded in death by his wife and three sons, Harry Jr.,
Eddie and David Granger. He is survived by six sons, Santiago, Louis,
Rudy, Robert, Jay and Daniel Granger, all of Carlsbad; five daughters,
Minnie Ramirez, Lena Vining, Mary Ann Florez, Jane Armendariz and
Linda Lujan, all of Carlsbad; 34 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren;
and six great-great grandchildren.

in Roswell, NM. He died February 12 at Eastern New Mexico
Medical Center in Roswell. Terpening and Son Mortuary is in
charge of arrangements. He was born March 18, 1924, in
Transylvania County, NC to Alexander Huston and Della Mae Allison
Gray. He moved to Roswell on December 8, 1997, from Madill, Okla.
He served in the Army during WWII. He was preceded in death
by his parents; brothers, Floyd, Odell, Oly, Alvia and Velvia;
and sisters, Annie Willie Gray and Leona Allison. Survivors
include sons, Robert Gray of Sherman, TX, and Kenneth Gray of
Sayre, Okla.; daughters, Sharion Ham of Artesia, and Tamara Gray
of Dallas, TX; and six grandchildren.

in 1983. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was a former
member of Fox and Lake Church of Christ. She is survived by
a daughter, Melba Kiser and husband, Pee Wee, of Carlsbad; a
brother, Billy Joe Templeton of Carlsbad; two sisters, Opal Woods
of Kansas and Juanita Bell Odell of Texas; a grandson, Perry Kiser
and wife, Suzanne, of Carlsbad; and two great-grandsons, Brandon

National Cemetery with the Veterans Honor Guard officiating. He died

of arrangements. He was born October 29, 1947, in Carlsbad to Clifford A.
and Myrtle V. Gregston. He grew up in Carlsbad and graduated from
Carlsbad High School in 1966. He served in the Army in Vietnam from
1967 to 1968, receiving the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars.
Following discharge, he returned to Carlsbad. He was a member of
Disabled American Veterans in Carlsbad. He is survived by a daughter,
Dawn Roche Gregston of Albuquerque, NM; his mother of the home; and
companion Peggy King of the home.

Manuel S. Garcia Jr.; her husband; and a son, George Griego. She is
survived by Rudy Griego of Carlsbad; three daughters, Gloria Jean Mendoza
and Gracia Najar, both of Roswell, NM, and Patsy Ybarra of Carlsbad;
a brother, Lupe Garcia of Carlsbad; two sisters, Emma Martinez of
Carlsbad and Pam Gonzalez of Washington, D.C.; 11 grandchildren; and
