INGRAM, CLINTON JACK
Services were held February 26, in Amarillo, TX, for CLINTON JACK
INGRAM, 24, formerly of Carlsbad. Burial followed at Llano
Cemetery in Amarillo. No local service will be held. He died
February 23 in Amarillo. He was born in Carlsbad. He graduated
from Amarillo High School. He held a fifth degree black belt in
Tae Kwon Do and worked as an instructor in several Texas cities.
He was a member of the Choctaw Indian Nation. He is survived by
a daughter, Nikkia Ingram of Amarillo; his mother, Cheryl
Williamson of Queen; his father, Kem Ingram of Amarillo; three
sisters, Jaime Ingram of Ft. Smith, Ark., Kenna Frazier of
Odessa, TX, and Randi Tanner of Queen, NM; and grandparents,
Naoma and Doc Sartain of Amarillo, and Frances Ratliff and Jack

IVANS, LOSSIE L. "BOBO"
Services will be April 5 at Lake Arthur Baptist Church, Lake Arthur, NM,
for LOSSIE L. "BOBO" IVANS. Ivans, 86, died April 2 at her home.
Interment will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia. She
was born May 11, 1913, in Avis, NM, to Calvin E. George and Alice
(Harbert) George. She married Delbert Ivans on June 10, 1930, in
Roswell, NM. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1980. She was
a lifelong area resident, moving here in 1946 from Hope, NM. She
was a member of Lake Arthur Baptist Church. She is survived by a
daughter, Arlene Evans, husband Paul, of Temple, TX; sons Stan Ivans,
wife Pat, of Izoro, TX, and Larry Ivans, wife Pat, of Artesia;
11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grand
children. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son,

IVES, RUBY FRANCES
Services will be January 31 at Fox and Lake Church of Christ for
RUBY FRANCES IVES, 86. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.
She died January 28 at Carlsbad Medical Center. West Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements. She was born August 4, 1913, in
DeLeon, TX, to Andrew Jackson and Alice Oletha Bingham Moore. She
made her home in several Texas towns prior to moving to Carlsbad
in 1931. She married Travis O. Ives on August 31, 1932. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Travis, in 1976, a son, Jackie,
in 1991, and several brothers and sisters of which there were 14
total. Survivors include a son, Travis O. Ives Jr. of Cottate
City, MD; daughters, Sue Ives of Carlsbad and Frances Boren of
Fort Worth, TX; brothers, Charles Moore of Newark, Del., Andrew J.
Moore of Azle, TX, and Dan Reeves of Carlsbad; sisters, Dorothy
Bass, Margaret Harvey and Adeline Morrow of Carlsbad, Florence
Bynum of Odessa, TX, and Lena Hunt of Calif.; six grandchildren;

JACKSON, GEORGIA ANN LATHAM
Graveside services for Georgia Ann Latham Jackson, 90, will be
September 6 at Loving Cemetery in Lovington, NM. She died on
September 2 in Lovington. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church
for many years. She was born September 21, 1909, in Mayhill, NM.
She married Marvin Jackson on December 22, 1927, in Roswell, NM. He
preceded her in death on December 23, 1976. Survivors include son and
daughter-in-law, William M. (Bill) and Maxine Jackson of Artesia;
daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jimmy Reed of Lovington, NM; six
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her parents, five brothers, four sisters and a great-grandson.

JOHNSON, ELIZABETH
Funeral services are scheduled today at LaGrone Funeral Home in
Roswell, NM, for Elizabeth Johnson. Johnson, 100, died December 31.
She was born in Roswell on April 6, 1899. She grew up in Hope, NM,
and Loving, NM, before settling in Carlsbad. She taught school
in Eddy County for 42 years. She was a member of the Church of
Christ, Delta Kappa Gamma and the National Educators Association.
She is survived by a sister, Nettie Nell Kercheville of
El Paso, Texas.

JOHNSON, GARY WAYNE JR.
Memorial services for Gary Wayne Johnson Jr., 32, of Las Vegas, NV will
be August 26 at Happy Valley Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place.
Interment of cremated remains will be at a later date at Santa Fe
National Cemetery. He died August 21 in Las Vegas. Denton-Funchess
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born November 23, 1967
to Gary Wayne Johnson Sr. and Sandra R. Laughlin Johnson in Carlsbad.
He served in the Navy. He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandfather, Bill Johnson, maternal grandfather, Dalton Gayle Laughlin,
maternal grandmother, Ann Powers and great-grandmother, Mary Ella
McKinney. Survivors include his fiancee, Elena Amar of Las Vegas;
father and wife, Gary W. Johnson Sr. and Suzette Johnson of Carlsbad;
mother and husband, Sandra and Harry Gunn of Portales, NM; brother,
Billy Johnson of Carlsbad; sisters, Melissa Perkins of Florida, Lynda
Silver of Kausman, TX, Rebecca Bandy of Portales and Kathy Morgan of
Carlsbad; and paternal grandmother, Shirley Jackson of Carlsbad.

JOHNSON, RONALD
Memorial services for Ronald Johnson, 49, will be April 1 at
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation has taken place.
He died March 29 at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest Inc.,
Northgate Unit. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements. He was born February 3, 1951, in Lebanon, MO, to
Wilber and Patsy Ann Barker Johnson. He served in the Army for
four years. He was preceded in death by his father in May 1991.
Survivors include sons, Christopher Johnson and Nicholas Johnson of
Know Hill, AR; mother, Patsy Castillo of Carlsbad; brothers, Raymond
Johnson, Richard Castillo and Alfredo Castillo Jr. of Carlsbad;

JOHNSON, VIRGINIA BECKER
A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM,
for Virginia Becker Johnson. She died September 12, in the home she
and her husband built in 1939. She was born in Alexandria, VA, on
December 10, 1910. She was the youngest of three children born to
Lena Hope Fox Becker and Dr. Henry Moore Becker. Dr. Becker moved his
family to Clayton, NM, when the children were small. She graduated
from Clayton High School in 1928 and attended the University of Arkansas
at Fayetville for one year before transferring to the University of
New Mexico where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. The Great Depression
caused her to returen to Clayton. There, she met her husband. They
were married in Santa Fe, NM, in 1936. They then moved to Carlsbad in
1937. They had three daughters, two of whom survive. Their first child,
Marianne, died in 1977. Mr. Johnson died in 1991. She is survived
by her sister, Hazel Frances Becker; her daughters, Karen Johnson Furia
and Allida Ellen Taylor; son-in-law, Lester K. Taylor; five grandchildren,
Carter M. Taylor and his wife, Anne, Dr. Ellen Moore Rigsby, Dr. Peter A.
Furia, William C. Taylor, and Nicholas A. Furia; two great-grandchildren,
Jack and Adam Taylor.

JONES, JACK O.
Services for Jack O. Jones, 88, will be August 17, at Terpening and
Son Chapel. He died August 14 at Heart Hospital of New Mexico in
Albuquerque. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. He was born
on February 27, 1912, in Nolan County, TX, to Will J. Jones and Jane
(Waldron) Jones. He married Trudie Dean Mobley on April 25, 1936, in
Carlsbad. He moved to Artesia in 1935 from Seymour, TX. He is
survived by his wife of the home; sons, Truman Jones of Artesia, Robert
Jones, wife Maria, of Midland, TX, Gordon Jones of San Antonio, TX, and
Johnnie Jones, wife Brenda, of Loco Hills, NM; daughters, Eva Murdock
of Artesia, Naomi Goss, husband Benny, of Hobbs, NM, Jackie Paxton of
Midland, TX, and Ruby Ware of Hobbs, NM; brother Virgil Jones of
Wichita Falls, TX; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and
numerous nephews and nieces.

JUAREZ, ELOISA O. GALLEGOS
A funeral mass will be March 20 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church
in Artesia, for Alamogordo resident, Eloisa O. Gallegos Juarez.
Juarez, 93, died on March 16 in Alamogordo, NM. Interment will be
at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. She was born on August 16, 1906, in
Corona, NM, the daughter of Ascion Oroszo and Fidela Ortero Oroszo.
She is survived by a son, Guadalupe Gallegos of La Puent, Calif.;
daughters Erma Carver, husband Albert, of Port Orange, Fla., and
Domi Cordero of Winter Park, Fla.; nine stepchildren; 15 grand-
children; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

for Zulema T. Juarez, 70. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina
Cemetery. She died February 13 at her home. Denton-Funchess
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born on
June 15, 1929, in Carlsbad to Francisco Terrazas and Juanita Munoz
Terrazas. She grew up and attended school here. She married
Benito M. Juarez Sr. on October 3, 1945. She was preceded in death
by her husband in 1984. Survivors include sons, Mariano Juarez of
Ruidoso, NM, Thomas Juarez of Hobbs, NM, Francisco Juarez of
Carlsbad and Dibrell Juarez of Pensacola, Fla.; daughters, Elizabeth
Juarez, Virginia Juarez, Dorothy Juarez, Lorraine White and Tina
Juarez of Carlsbad, Brenda Hart of Tucson, Ariz., Linda Claffey of
Las Vegas, Nev., and Olga Juarez of Springfield, Mo.; a brother,
Mariano Terrazas of Carlsbad; sisters, Carmen Ebert of Pekin, Ill.,
and Helen Elizondo and Alice Madrid of Carlsbad; 24 grandchildren;

JURVA, BETTY H.
A memorial service is scheduled for January 7 at Christ the King
Church in Campbell, Calif., for Betty H. Jurva. Jurva, 83, died
January 3 at Columbia Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, Calif.
after a short illness. Betty Young Jurva was born November 11, 1916,
in Phenix, Ariz., to Myra Hooper and Henry Herbert Hotchkiss.
She was raised in the Valley of the Sun and graduated from
Phoenix Union High School in 1934. In 1938, she earned her
bachelor of arts degree from Arizona State University. Shortly
thereafter she moved to Morenci, Ariz. to teach elementary school.
There she met and married Urho "Jerry" A. Jurva. The moved to
eastern Oregon. WWII drew the couple to Southern California where
he found work in the defense industry. In 1997, they moved to
Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad. She was preceded in death by
an older sister, Myra Hotchkiss, and her husband, Jerry, in May 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne M. Agah of San Jose, Calif.; son,
Charles H. Jurva of Carlsbad; and four grandchildren. (Photo shown
